Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. She grew up in an ethnically diverse family. The father of Jacqueline, Elroy Fernandez is Sri Lankan. Jacqueline is the youngest of two sisters and a brother who is older. Due to unrest in Lanka, her parents moved to Bahrain during the 1980s. Her schooling was completed at Bahrain and she won an Scholarship to attend at the University of Sydney. There she was awarded the Media and Communications degree. Passionate about different cultures and languages has led her to the Berlitz language school, where she improved her French as well as Arabic as she learned Spanish. She was also crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th of 2006, and then competed at Miss Universe 2006. In the wake of her 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone stepped into the world of television and hosted a show about Sri Lankan Business called Lanka Business Report. Padukone's father is badminton-player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has been raised both in Copenhagen as well as Bangalore. In her teens, she played in national level badminton tournaments. She later resigned from the sport to become a designer. Padukone hails from Mangalore and her native language is Konkani. Padukone is a village located within the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is an old badminton player who is of global repute. Her mother is a travel agent.
